AIDS Competence Process (ACP)
ACP includes an ideal, an approach, and a set of tools and is built on a common belief.

The ideal is AIDS Competence.
The approach is Human Capacity Development. This means building on people's strengths to create a social transformation. People are seen as the subjects of their own development rather than as the objects of institutional intervention. Local capacity is relied on to tackle a local problem.
The tools are rooted in Knowledge Management. These consist of various tools including Self-Assessment, Peer Assist, and the development of Knowledge Assets.
The common belief is that individuals and communities have the skills and the knowledge to improve their situation and this belief ties together AIDS Competence, Human Capacity Development and Knowledge Management in the AIDS Competence Process.
