Showcomotion Young People’s Film Festival
Showcomotion Young People’s Film Festival (June 25 - July 9) is accepting submissions for the 2009 festival of films made both for and by children and young people from across the United Kingdom (UK) and the world. They can be shorts or features including fiction, documentary, and animation.
The festival has three sections:
- Panorama Programme: Films made for young people and films made by young people from around the world are accepted. Animations, live action, documentaries, features, and shorts are accepted.
- The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) UK Awards: These awards are for short films on the theme of young people’s rights. The competition is open to filmmakers from around the world. Animations, live action, documentaries on the theme of children's and young people’s rights are accepted. The duration is to be no more than 30 minutes. There are three awards:
- The UNICEF UK Young Film Maker Award is for filmmakers up to and including 18 years old from around the world. Animations, live action, documentaries are accepted.
- The UNICEF UK Short Film Award is for professional filmmakers, semi-professional filmmakers, and students aged 19 years plus.
- The Audience Award is for the best overall film in both categories.
- The Steel City Globe Awards: The Steel City Globe Awards (Primary) and The Steel City Globe Awards (Secondary) are for short films on any subject. This competition is open to schools in the Sheffield city, UK region only. The jury comprises media professionals from Sheffield. Please contact The Steel City Globe Awards office directly via Laura.Buckley@sheffield.gov.uk if your school wants to submit a film to The Steel City Globe Awards competition.
The deadline for application is March 20 2009.

The Entry form must be accompanied by following:
• A VHS PAL or DVD screener.
• 50--word synopsis of the film for the official festival programme and website.
• A digital photo from the film at 300 dpi resolution. Email this to admin@showroom.org.uk or enclose on a CD. Please clearly label with the title of the film.
• Publicity materials and press cuttings.
• Director’s biography and filmography.
• Film credits.
• List of prizes and list of participation in other festivals.
For films made by young people up to and including 18 years old: please include a short statement which outlines the involvement of the young people in the filmmaking process and which specifies the involvement of film professionals, if any. In particular, please indicate the age of the director of the film.
