Child rights action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.

Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.

We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

UNICEF Radio is an radio news service focusing on the health, education, equality and protection of children.
Communication Strategies
UNICEF Radio offers news and in-depth stories from around the world about children's rights and health created by, with and for children.

The audio files are offered on the UNICEF Radio website in streaming audio for listeners everywhere, and in high quality mp3 files for broadcasters to download free of charge. Many of the audio files are accompanied by text reports.

According to the UNICEF website, "radio still has the greatest reach of any of the mass media, especially in the world’s poorer and more rural areas. Every day radio gives voice to the concerns of communities, families and children and provides a channel of vital information both in times of peace and in times of crisis. That is why UNICEF is committed to supporting this medium by developing partnerships and providing a range of products." UNICEF Radio is part of UNICEF's audio/ video programme which aims to encourage media producers to tell the stories of the world's children, while creating greater public awareness, emotional involvement and social participation.
