Child rights action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.

Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.

We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

SummaryText

Save the Children's Resource Centre is an online portal managed by Save the Children Sweden that hosts information on child protection and child rights governance.

The resource centre provides access to what Save the Children describes as quality-assured information and tools on child protection and child rights governance. The child protection section addresses issues such as child protection systems, children without appropriate care, child protection in emergencies, child sexual abuse and exploitation, engaging boys in ending gender-based violence, child participation, working children, corporal punishment, and children in conflict with the law. The child rights governance section focuses on child rights monitoring, strengthening national structures, and building awareness and capacity.

The eLibrary provides access to a growing collection of more than 2,500 full-text publications from Save the Children and other publishers working in areas linked to child rights. Each publication in the eLibrary is tagged with relevant keywords in order to enable the library user to do narrow searches with a more relevant result. All registered users of the resource centre are invited to contribute to the library collection and add relevant publications. They may also create a personalised "shelf" ("My library") and then share that collection with colleagues.
