No Women Should Die Giving Life: Safe Motherhood Resource Kit
SummaryText
This online media kit provides updated and newsworthy information on maternal health that can be used as background for articles, feature stories, interviews, and other communications. It is provided by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in order to provide media personnel and others with the data and case studies they need to accurately and effectively communicate about Millennium Development Goal (MDG) #5 (reduce maternal mortality) and the efforts being made to save women's lives around the world.
For example, one may help spread the word by viewing and/or downloading resources including:
- Fact sheet on MDG #5, Improving Maternal Health, which UNFPA notes is sometimes called "the heart of the MDGs"
- short video clips, with titles such as "When Mother Died, the Family Fell Apart"
- fact sheets on maternal health and UNFPA, with titles - in Arabic, English, French, and Spanish - such as "Delivering Hope and Saving Lives"
- special focus feature stories, with titles such as "Mobile Clinics Bring Life-saving Care to Myanmar Women"
- publications, including those featuring estimates developed by the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), UNFPA, and The World Bank
- stories from the field, with titles such as "Little Blue Book Helps to Improve Maternal Health in Morocco"
- video statements by Ms. Thoroya Obaid, Executive Director of the UNFPA, with titles such as "Why Maternal Health"
- videos, with titles such as "Men's Partnership in Maternal Health - UNFPA in Tajikistan"
- a photo library with free pictures from the field
- a letter to the editor by Ms. Thoraya Obaid, UNFPA Executive Director
- reports, such as "State of World Population 2007"
- UNFPA contact information for journalists seeking further information.
