Drawing Insight [Video]
SummaryText
In 1994, world class animators, UNICEF representatives, and animation industry leaders met in Orlando, Florida for a Second Animation for Development Workshop and Summit. As a result of this workshop, a book and video, both entitled Drawing Insight, were produced.
This video provides a visual overview of the growing relationship between United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) messages and animation - from the 1960s when animation was first used for fundraising, to the present day, when animation is being used to pass along life-saving messages. As told by leaders in the animation industry and developing country artists, Drawing Insight provides a glimpse of the potential for this art form to influence the lives of children everywhere. The video includes a detailed look at the development of two major regional UNICEF animation projects - Meena in South Asia and Maximo in Ecuador - and provides the viewer with a sense of the potential for improving children's lives through animation.
Includes interviews with: Frank Gladstone, William Hetzer, Max Howard, Faith Hubley, Leon Joosen, Derek Lamb, and others.
