iheedCrowd

iheed develops animated films for the training of health workers in developing countries across the globe, using its online crowd-sourcing platform, iheedCrowd. This platform is established for the digital design community to address global health education and training challenges. Using a competition-based format with awards and prizes, iheedCrowd works on rapid mobilisation of the digital media community by providing a way for animation designers to both produce work and reach end-users.
iheedCrowd is set up to encourage individuals to create animations and films for education and training through cellphones and internet-connected tablets to help solve healthcare issues. Their competitions begin with the creation of a story board by each entrant. The top entries are chosen and developed through interaction between the iheed advisory broad and the creator until a final package is finished. The top three products in each competition are then showcased online at the iheedCrowd website. The animations are designed to be transferred with ease between devices, easily translated, and efficiently distributed in order to address health education issues rapidly and in response to education and literacy challenges.
The animation library includes films on:
- "Two Simple Ways to Treat Water - Filtration and Solar Disinfection";
- "Breastfeeding - Technique and Benefits";
- "Family Planning: Using Depo-Provera";
- "The Dangers Of Smoking";
- "Child Malnuitrition";
- "The Coughing Child and Pneumonia";
- "Breast Cancer";
- "Depression - Understanding the Causes";
- "Buzz & Bite Malaria Prevention Campaign";
- "NO EXCUSES - Campaign to Prevent Domestic Violence and Abuse";
